Winner of the 2024 AHP Fiction Prize

Autumn House is pleased to announce that The Great Grownup Game of Make-Believe by Lauren Woods was selected by Kristen Arnett as the winner of our 2024 Fiction Prize. We’re so pleased to publish this debut collection in October 2025. 


Lauren D. Woods writes fiction and essays, which have appeared in The Antioch Review, Hayden’s Ferry Review, Moon City Review, Lit Hub, Passages North, and elsewhere. Her work was cited as a notable Best American Essay in 2023, and her stories have been nominated for Best Small Fictions, Best of the Net, and the Pushcart Prize. Lauren lives in Washington, DC, with her husband and four children and has spent her other career in human rights and foreign policy.
