The Last Visit named a “Must-Read” poetry collection by The Millions!

March 4, 2019

Chad Abushanab’s debut poetry collection, The Last Visit, was featured in Nick Ripatrazone’s “Must-Read Poetry: March 2019” article for The Millions! Below is a brief excerpt from the piece, but be sure to visit their website to see the full list!

“The Factory,” a terse, dizzying poem, appears early in this fantastic debut. “Husks in shadows just outside of town: / a rusted mess, a postindustrial tomb.” Here “men with bloody lungs keep / coughing up clots like overripe berries. / Their wives beside them pretend to be asleep, / imagine different endings to their stories.” The Last Visit teems with distressing images, offered with fury and skill.
