Gerald Stern
Gerald Stern, the son of Polish and Ukrainian immigrants, grew up in Pittsburgh. He is the author of twelve books of poetry and a collection of personal essays. He is the recipient of many awards, including a Guggenheim Fellowship, three NEA Fellowships, the Ruth Lilly Prize, and the National Book Award, which he won in 1998 forĀ This Time, New and Selected Poems. Stern lives in Lambertville, New Jersey, a small community on the Delaware River, and in New York City.
