AHP Author Amie Whittemore Interviewed by Writers House Review
A big thanks to Lindsay Croken and Mary McIlvain at Rutgers’ Writers House Review for devoting time to interview AHP author Amie Whittemore. We are always delighted to see our AHP authors recognized and appreciated for their talents. Lindsay and Mary asked some exciting questions.
When asked about the juxtaposition of Whittemore’s exploration of queer identity as something lovable but also disordered, Whittemore says:
For so much of my 20s and early 30s, I struggled with how to make sense of my complicated love life, my queer identity, my longing for home. I certainly didn’t know how to write a poem about one of these issues without considering the others. Thus, this book came about from an interest in letting go of trying to make sense or resolve these tensions but to see them as interwoven, to let them be, in their sometimes contradictory, often inexplicable states.
